MT & PT SNT L2 Initial Experienced Course

Combined MT & PT SNT Level 2 initial training course, suitable for employees with MT & PT experience who understand the basics of MT & PT requiring SNT certification.

Level 2

Course Overview

This course is aimed at students who understand the basics of MT & PT practices and holds more than 4 months MT experience and 3 months PT experience.

Course Objectives

Personnel certified to Magnetic Particle Inspection Level 2 and Liquid Penetrant Inspection Level 2 will have demonstrated an understanding of the subject and a level of confidence to perform MT & PT Inspection in accordance with NDT procedures.

Within certification, Level 2 personnel may be authorised and qualified by the employer to:

  • Select the technique required to carry out the test method, visible or fluorescent 
  • Determine the limitations of its application
  • Interpret codes, standards and procedures to identify their application
  • Prepare equipment and verify settings regarding current waveforms and test mediums
  • Perform the inspection tasks
  • Interpret and evaluate the results of the inspection
  • Complete and endorse inspection reports and records
  • Supervise all tasks carried out by personnel at Level 1 or Level 2

Course Content

Below is an overview of the standard course, which includes but is not limited to:

  • Material characteristics and surface condition
  • Lighting conditions and visual requirements
  • Properties of magnetic fields & penetrant materials
  • MT & PT equipment and techniques
  • Equipment calibration
  • Understanding procedures, codes and standards. The preparation of instruction writing
  • Application of the Visual Inspection Method
  • Interpreting the results
  • Acceptance standards

Course Information

Certification

  • Attendance of training certificate
  • SNT Level 2 Examination Results

The Employer shall follow the guidelines of the CWP document to monitor and record the employees competence/experience before certificating the employee with internal SNT certification.

Duration

This course is a duration of 5 days:

  • MT SNT Level 2 – 3 day duration
  • PT SNT Level 2 – 2 day duration

SNT courses can be tailored to suit company requirements.

Pre-Requisites

  • 3 months – PT Experience
  • 4 months – MT Experience

IMPORTANT: Experience Confirmation Letter OR previous SNT Certificate required from Employer, along with the NDT Procedures and CWP.
